(SANGUINE AISLE)
Sanguine Aisle is best known as they Snowy Coast as it is the one city that is quite warm but is covered in snow year round. In recent years, the number of heretics around Sanguine have been growing at a steady pace and have the Sheperds on edge with all mages. Since Sanguine is mainly Sheperd owned, the mages within the tower are suppressed heavily by the demands of the Sheperds. With the entire city now under the command of the Sheperds, life has been rough, especially for any mage born within the city limits. The family is forced to make a choice to have their child run or be subjected to the will of the Sheperds. The rule of the Sheperds has begun to irritate several of the heretics, since they are being hunted like animals, so they are beginning to rebel. Already rumors are beginning to spread within the city and the tower about a single heretic destroying several Sheperd patrols. Because of this revolt, more mages are beginning to run out to the wilds in order to find this band of 'merry' heretics and join their ranks. Those within the city limits are afraid a war will be waged and their city will become the grounds of another mage war and be the destruction of Sanguine itself. Fearful, the denizens have a choice to either support the heretic revolt or turn in every heretic they see so the Sheperds will win and, hopefully, leave.
(mages)
Mages are all about magic! Thousands of years ago, humans rarely had this gift, but since the elves bred into the human race, their magical abilities live on within the human descendants. These specific mages, however, have been registered by the Sheperds and are always being watched by someone. After all, magic is more dangerous than a loaded gun. Note that mages are born, which means not everyone can be a mage and you most certainly cannot train yourself to be one if you lack the ability to conjure magic.
(heretics)
Heretics are mages that have broke off from the Sheperds or were never truly apart of them to begin with. Either way, they go unwatched and are often killed on sight by Sheperds unless the heretic willingly gives themselves up. Because they are against going against the law, heretics are forced to hide and rarely stay in one place for very long and, if they do stick around, it is often in some hole in the ground. Rumor: All heretics are possessed by a demon!! (Not necessarily true.)
(sheperds)
Sheperds have been around for thousands of generations and have always been there to balance out the mages and keep them in check. In the past, there was very little need for them as most mages were elves and they tended to keep to themselves. With the elves now bred into the human race, magic is not as rare and the Sheperds have been ever vigilant in order to keep the threat of a mage claiming the crown. The Sheperds believe in Rotearca, the goddess of creation, and that she gave the gifts to mages in order to protect man kind, but Rytesia, the goddess of death, created demons and evil magic was born. Here is the Sheperds symbol that will allow you to know who they are aligned with.
(imperials)
Imperials are either born into their rank or take it by the tip of a sword, but they are Sanguine's nobles. The title of imperial is rare and will never be given to a mage, in order to avoid conflict.
(denizens)
Denizens consist of everyone that is left. They may not be poor, but they have no title and are not apart of the Sheperds nor are they a mage. However, a denizen may rise to the rank of imperial or even become a Sheperd at any time during their life, as long as they have the skill to back it up.
